A new chapter at River.

Since opening River at Crooked River Estate in July, our ambition has been to create a dining experience that truly reflects the Estate and the South Coast.

We’re delighted to welcome Jason McCauley as our new Executive Head Chef.

Jason brings more than 25 years of experience across some of Sydney’s leading restaurants. His career has included time at the acclaimed three-hatted Banc under Liam Tomlin, before moving into senior and Executive Chef roles across a number of well-known Sydney venues.

As Group Executive Chef at Criniti’s, Jason oversaw seven restaurants during a period in which Criniti’s was recognised as Best Italian in the I Love Food Awards for three consecutive years. His career has since included Executive Chef roles at Meu Jardim and one-hatted Metisse in Potts Point, before joining JAAKS and The Kyle Bay, where his food and degustation menus helped JAAKS achieve significant Restaurant & Catering Awards recognition, including Best Greek Restaurant in Sydney and National Best Greek Restaurant, as well as the NSW and National awards for Best 200 Seat Function Space two years running.

Joining Crooked River Estate is also something of a homecoming. Jason moved to Nowra as a toddler and began his early food career on the South Coast before heading to Sydney. He has now made the move back south to join us at Crooked River Estate.

Jason’s new menu at River launches from 7 October, bringing his experience and style together with outstanding local produce and our Estate-grown wines. And in October, we’re celebrating properly.
